As it turns out, Graves is Credence's actual father. He takes him in and tries to make up for all those awful, lost years. Graves/Credence or not, writers' choice (I'm definitely not opposed!), bonus points for touch starved credence and Graves petting Credence's hair, super bonus points for pet names and (at least somewhat consensual) spanking!
