Some time after the movie. Grindelwald escaped. The MACUSA and MoM are working together to contain the threat. Somehow they come face to face with Grindelwald again. He tries to goad Theseus and Percival by asking if they are missing something or should he say someone, then proceeds to throw something at them that belongs to Newt (his wand, stunned Picket, ...), Newt who is supposed to be on a trip in the wilds somewhere.
Grindelwald gives an ultimatum and disappears. MACUSA and MoM try to find out where he keeps Newt but when they arrive, Newt is strolling out of the place a little worse for wear. Turns out, he doesn't need to be rescued.
Bonus: Newt is a confused bamf!cinnamon roll who doesn't get why literally every auror turned up to get him back. Turns out that being a little annoying doesn't mean people can't adore you.
