Newt returns to New York not only with his finished book, but a recovering Credence as well. Credence is pardoned for the whole obscurus incident. To their surprise they also meet the real Percival, who is on the road to recovery himself. The man is more serious and closed off than ever.
Naturally, several denizens of Newt's case get loose, including some of the big ones. It is totally chaos as Newt, Credence, Tina, and Queenie along with others try to get the creatures back in the case. Then everyone stops when they hear this loud, joyous laughter and they are stunned when they see none other than Percival himself with his head thrown back laughing his head off with either a cute creature like a Mooncalf or a deadly creature like the Swooping Evil in his arms. Newt and Credence fall for him hard and fast in that moment.
