So basically, Director Graves being able to sentence Newt to summary execution only makes sense if you assume that GrindelGraves had probably Imperio'd the poor executioners, had no intention of still being Graves for much longer and explicitly didn't care that the British Ministry could take that as an act of war or at the very least cause a great deal of trouble over it.

I would love to see a fic where a lot of others are up in arms over Newt being almost executed by a foreign power. Including Newts old army buddies from the Eastern Front who are insane enough to wrangle dragons, the British Aurors who are not ok with their boss' little brother being threatened, and the Ministry who may find Newt incredibly troublesome but he's one of theirs.

+ If some of Newts old war buddies make some very pointed comments about how easy it would be for a dragon to burn MACUSA to the ground, which go straight over Newts head
++ The government of wherever Newt rescued his Nundu from are not happy that he almost died, since if that happens someone might try to /return/ said Nundu to them
