Five (or more) years after the events of the movie, Grindleward has been captured and stripped of his magic. Gleefully unrepentant, he offers to admit all his crimes on the condition that Percival Graves and Tina Goldstein are the only ones to interview him. After agreeing, Gridleward spares not detail of his gruesome crimes, but Grindleward still has an ace up his sleeve; his last crime, just before his capture. He reveals in brutally graphic detail how while Graves was running over the country being his brave Auror self, Grindleward paid a visit to Graves’s beautiful, oh so sweet husband Newt, and brutally and repeatedly raped him, baiting Graves with far too intimate details of Newt. Graves snaps and turns on Grindleward only stopping when Tina’s yells make him stop and sees the horrified white face of Newt, who has heard the whole interview. Between Grindleward's horrific laughter and Newt's expression it tells Graves everything and it breaks them both. They and Tina realise Grindleward's end game, a final attempt to destroy. Both men are broken by the revelation that Newt always intended to hide to protect Percival. Now everyone knows his shame, and Percival cannot forgive himself. Can the pair ever move on or has Grindleward simply ensured his last two victims
