Welcome to a parallel world, so similar yet different to ours. For in this world, we have Daemons – the physical manifestation of our very souls in animal form, our lifelong companion. If one dies, so does the other, for no soul can live without a body, and a body without a soul…well there are whispered tales of what happens then. Whispers that can cause a person to…disappear if spoken too loudly.
Newt Scamander has always been immensely curious about those tales, along with just about everything else, something his Daemon Leta meets with a long suffering sigh. Newt knows his insatiable curiosity and love of all creatures, dangerous or not, doesn't make it easy for either of them. He always wants to know, to understand things, making him different in a world that teaches him he should be quiet and not question. Rules are made to be followed, and questions only lead to trouble.
On his family estate, everything is carefully regulated, well ordered and lonely. Mostly ignored by his parents, overshadowed by his popular brother Theseus. Newt’s only real comfort comes from his creatures, and his secret trips to the local town. Until he meets new arrival Creedence who becomes Newt’s first real friend, until he suddenly disappears – all traces of him gone, as if he never existed, but Newt instinct tells him there is more to the story, and it all points to the Forbidden Forrest, one place no one goes but Newt along with Leta is drawn there. Enlisting help from sisters Tina and Queenie, they along with wrong-place, wrong-time Jacob find themselves in the mix of a very dark and complex mistery that is deeper than Creedence and Newt will find his love of a lifetime in the complex and stoic Percival Graves.
But that comes at the terrible cost of piquing the interest the darkest wizard of all time, Grindlewald…something that no one should ever do…
