Newt is a wizard and an alpha wolf with Credence as his beloved beta. Due to some law, they also need an omega. It is arranged the Percival, not your typical omega will join their marriage. Newt is disinterested at best towards Percival, while Credence, jealous because Percival is gorgeous, is downright hostile towards the omega and possessive of Newt. Percival for his part, remains outwardly stoic, but inward he is terribly lonely and is actually deeply in love with both Newt and Credence. It hurts him every time he's rejected by either. Newt, though polite to Percival, favors Credence and seems to only tolerate any affection for Percival. Credence is always baring his teeth.
Percival decides that he must prove his love and worth to both Newt and Credence through some highly dangerous trial. He overhears Newt and Credence talking about some legendary creature, like some type of dragon or unicorn and how much they would love even the tiniest sample from the creature. Percival sees this as his chance and begins to secretly form a plan to find the creature. One night, he and Credence get into an argument that Credence starts due to his insecurity. Newt sides with Credence and tears into Percival. Even though he's deeply hurt, Percival decides to go through with his plan. He leaves to find the creature that same night, leaving only a simple note to declare how much he loves them BOTH and what he intends to do.
When Newt and Credence find the note they are stunned and then deeply ashamed, Newt for not being the alpha Percival needs and deserves, and Credence for allowing jealously and insecurity to keep him from seeing that Percival cares for him too. The pair try to search for Percival, but to no avail. Just when they think they've lost their husband due to their own foolishness, Percival returns and much to Newt and Credence's shock, he doesn't bring back a small piece of the creature, he brings back the entire creature alive and well, and smitten with Percival.
