Grindelwald kidnaps Newt and offers Dumbledore a deal: He'll let Newt live if Dumbledore joins him. Dumbledore agrees, fully planning on finding a way to free both himself and Newt. Only he kind of likes having his best friend back and, after a while, Dumbledore's no so sure he wants to leave.
