While Grindelwald holds the real Graves as prisoner, he has Graves perform and submit to all types of sexual acts. He never uses the Imperius curse or beats the auror into submission. He doesn't need to. All Grindelwald has to do is say that if Graves won't do it, Grindelwald's sure he can get Credence to take his place. That's all it takes to secure Graves' cooperation.
