ROUND 2

Seeing as we've reached 4,000 comments in Round 1, it's time to make a new one. Same (lack of) rules apply. Gentle reminder to everyone to refrain from posting extremely long prompts, though. While no word limit will be imposed, take note that it is very unlikely for someone to fulfill your prompt if your prompt alone is already several paragraphs long and containing a number of specifications.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

-The prompt freeze is over! You may resume posting prompts. The next freeze is scheduled on February 8, 12:00 AM (PST) or if this round reaches 4,000 comments; whichever comes first.

Graves doesn't know the man he punched but this isn't the first time Grindlewald has played mind games with the semblances of his Aurors and he's not taking any chances.

He makes a grab for the man's wand and when the man moves to get back up Graves hits him with his less damaged wing, hard enough to knock the man down and then Graves is on him. The pin he's got the man in would get him thrown out of most legal fighting parlors but he isn't looking to get a trophy he's looking to escape. Graves is too weak to control his wandless magic but if he can just get his hands on a wand...

Graves mantles on instinct as he fights for possession of the wand and that's all it takes for one of the others (he thinks it's the one who looks like Goldstein) to hit him with a stunner. His last thought before he passes out is that it's odd for someone to have correctly guessed about his great grandmother when most simply assume it was some sort of miscast spell or curse.

Graves wakes to the screaming agony of SkeleGro working it's magic on three of the seven bones in his left wing. Disorientated and in pain he hexes the person who comes running through the door and makes as swift an exit as he can, hoping to escape whatever Grindlewald has planned for him this time.

Graves, perhaps, ought to be more suprised than he is to see that man he punched again. Instead he is resigned.

This time the man is more calculating in his approach, though he still radiates the awkward kindness from before.

"Mr Graves? My name is Newt Scamander and I wanted to apologizes. It wasn't polite of me to out you like that and..." The man (Scamander? possible relation to Theseus?) is only barely looking at Graves as he talks, his whole body exuding non-threat like his life depends on it.

The mood Graves is in, it just might. He makes his move, striding swiftly forward and making a grab for that fanciful blue coat.

He thinks he feels the rough warmth of the wool it is made of but it slips from his grasp like water. Mr Scamander is already on the other side of the hallway before Graves can reorient himself.

Graves narrows his eyes.

So that's the game. Get him to exhaust himself on an illusion and strike just when he thinks he's free. Resolutely he makes a move to pass the man and head for whatever exit he can find.

The unexpected grip of delicate fingers is surprisingly strong on his wrist.

"Mr. Graves, I really don't think you should be out of bed."

A.N. Graves is suffering from some pretty severe psychological trauma. Not everything he sees or thinks is going to be accurate or real.

The sound I just made cannot be heard by human ears. I'm so glad to see you continuing this and I cannot wait for more.
