When Newt goes to feed his animals for the first time since the subway incident, he definitely didn't expect to see Credence snuggled up next to a hippogriff, the niffler curled up in his arms like a teddy bear.

In other words, Credence somehow ended up in Newt's suitcase after the subway and the beasts all love him.
