Apparently, Newt is still alive and well as of 2016, so why not have him play Pokemon Go? I can totally imagine him enjoying it.

OP here. Never really thought about it, but as for his team, I'm pretty sure he'd be on Team Instinct.

He so would! His Hufflepuff loyalty and the underdog-ness of instinct would soo draw him in!

Instinct is the best team for sure.

He also totally has a Magicarp with perfect stats and he *could* turn it into a Gyarados, but he just couldn't... not till he feels the time is right.

My headcanon is that Newt is a huge Pokemon fan, and his grandson and great-grandsons give him Pokemon Sun and Moon the moment it's released.
