Newt/Percival/Credence: Gladiator AU

Newt is a Roman lord who loves animals and Credence is his beloved husband. They are quite happily in love and secretly trying to help efforts to abolish slavery. One day they are invited to the arena for some gladiator fights. Newt and Credence can barely watch the brutality that unfolds, but then they are both awestruck when this unknown gladiator comes into the forefront. He's a dark haired man and handsome beyond words. Newt and Credence are riveted as they watch him defeat his opponents without killing them, but Newt especially loves when some dangerous animal is released and the gladiator refuses to hurt it. By the end of the match the gladiator stands beat to hell but victorious, with everyone chanting his name.

Percival

Newt and Credence are totally gone, and decide that Percival's days of fighting for his life are over. Newt meets with Percival's owner, the greedy and cruel Grindelwald and manages to but Percival, who at this point Grindelwald has actually beaten severely for refusing to kill his opponents and the animal in the arena. Newt and Credence rush to treat Percival's injuries. Once he is recovered, Percival acts every bit the subservient slave, but Newt and Credence are having none of that as they first grant Percival his freedom and then help him remember what it is to be a free man. Percival come into his own and falls just as hard for Newt and Credence.
