I don't think Grindelwald realizes how deeply Credence cares for Newt. His examples of "what Credence could ask for" didn't include tending to Newt's wounds, did they? It would be better if Grindelwald showed more kindness to Newt (like healing him without being prompted, gave him a better place to sleep when Credence does something correctly etc). This way Credence would feel like Grindelwald didn't really want to hurt Newt, because he cares about Newt, so it means that he, Credence, is the bad guy here, forcing Grindelwald to do something he doesn't want to (aka hurting Newt).

No, I don't think Credence is going to be happy about Newt "disappearing". In the previous part I thought Grindelwald took Credence in his own room because of some "dominance thing" and I guess I was right.

I both doesn't want this story to end and I long for it. Thank you for this amazing story.

Author!Anon (Don't worry, I know what you meant! You were tired!) Yup, definitely a dominance/control thing, he wants to prove he is in control here. You are completely right about being more kind to Newt, and if Grindelwald was planning on keeping Newt long term he would be doing that, but as it is he's not expecting Newt to survive. And he hasn't realised quite how attached Credence is.
