You do not simply sentence a person of another wizarding community to death without repercussions. Especially not if it's the little brother of war hero Theseus Scamander.

News reach Theseus in Britain and he arrives in NY sometime between Newt's and Tina's escape and the subway battle. Theseus makes it clear that while Graves is not to be trifled with, he would never harm Newt. Something must be wrong.

They arrive at the subway battle when Grindelwald is torturing Newt. Theseus explodes.
