Percival/Newt/Credence: Merman Au, Newt and Credence decide to court Percival with hilarious results

Newt and Credence are young mermen who grew up together and love each other immensely. Newt has always felt more at ease with the creatures of the sea rather than with other mer-people. Credence has been bullied his whole life and while his mother isn't abusive, she's not very attentive either. While they were growing up, Newt and Credence heard tails of the legendary protector of their community of mer-people, a merman named Percival Graves. Percival is admired, but also distant, always working to protect everyone but barely interacting with anyone. He doesn't even have any mates, nor comes to any of the mate finding events.

One day Newt and Credence are exploring together, observing some amazing sea creatures when they see Percival himself. He's strong and handsome with his gorgeous black and white tail. Newt and Credence are awestruck when they see Percival swim right up to the sea creatures they were watching and pet them and smile. In that moment both Newt and Credence fall in love with him and are determined to win him.

They look for Percival every day to see what he likes or doesn't like, and start leaving gifts outside of his underwater home. Some of these gifts from Newt and Credence are hit or miss, with the ones that miss being utterly hilarious, like Newt giving Percival a rare clam that actually tries to eat poor Percival, or Credence giving Percival a rare stone that actually turns Percival's hair temporarily purple by accident. Either way, Newt and Credence keep at it until Percival finally catches on and starts one upping them by giving lavish gifts in return.

Everyone is stunned when all is revealed, and by then those who oppose, like Mary Lou or Newt's parents can't do anything about it as Percival accepts both Newt and Credence as his mates.
