Newt vs Unknown Creature

Newt comes to America for some study and comes across a creature. To a non-wizard, it is a completely mundane thing they see all the time (such as an opossum). To Newt, this is some bizarre new thing he has to study, believing it to be related to magizoology.

Bonus if someone else, non-wizard or wizard, knows what it is and lets him flounder anyway. Have fun and thanks in advance!

As someone who has encountered oppossums, I can say the nundu would have been a practice for taming it.
