Minifill: The Dark Lord's Hobby

"You've got another one, Albus." Minerva said, her eyes narrowed at the familiar owl with the lumpy package who was steadily making its way towards the High Table.

"Excellent," Albus beamed, looking up from his breakfast to watch the owl's approach. "The last pair were beginning to wear out." Minerva pursed her lips disapprovingly.

"Don't you think that this is rather inappropriate?" She asked pointedly.

"Of course not!" Albus replied as though the thought had never occurred to him. "Why ever should I think that?"

"Well, considering you did just defeat him and imprison him in his own prison-" Minerva was interrupted by the package being dropped onto her goblet of pumpkin juice. Pressing her lips together so tightly they were liable to disappear, she flicked her wand and vanished the spillage. Albus reached over eagerly and quickly unwrapped it.

"How wonderful!" He exclaimed, holding his new socks up for examination. "He's even added stars this time."

"He's getting much better." Filius piped up, leaning in from Albus' other side. "He's even fixed that habit of dropping stitches at the heel." Minerva exhaled sharply and pinched the bridge of her nose. Honestly, the people she surrounded herself with these days.

Oh god I'm not sure you guys realize, but what with Gellert sending Albus socks maybe every month, Albus is bound to have a drawer full of them? Maybe even a sock index? Maybe he chooses what to wear depending on the dream he had that morning?

...and he was checking knitting patterns on HBP, when he and Harry recruited Horace Slughorn. I bet you ten galleons that he sends them to Gellert.

Merlin's very long, ver white beard, what have you done?! Do you know how obsessed I am with yarn, seeing as I'm an actual crocheter and knitter? Do you know what it does to me, knowing that Gellert Grindlewald probably has a supplier of specialty yarn, ones that change colors or sparkle or self-clean or self-deodorize, or something?

I love this, and am now picturing Gellert slowly imparting his change of heart to Gellert via sock patterns over the century. Come on, the change of heart was totes implied in DH.
