(Anonymous) 2017-01-15 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)This only makes Credence curl tighter into a ball. He messed up. He knows that. He had lost control, and that was dangerous. Still, he can’t help but feel a bit triumphant. Yes, he had let the obscurus out, but it had saved Newt. Surely that was a good thing? And it wasn’t like he had killed anyone.
“Credence?” Newt calls again. “Can I come down?”
Ever since Newt had taken Credence in, it had been their unspoken agreement that the den was Credence’s room. The house in the suitcase only had one bedroom, so Newt had transfigured the couch in the den into a bed and told Credence that he could sleep there until Newt could buy the materials to put an addition onto the house. Credence doesn’t mind. The den is three times the size of his old room, never gets drafty, has bookcases that are full of books, and an extremely comfortable place to hide when he needs his space. Like now. Only Credence needs Newt to understand…Needs him to know Credence only knocked the evil man to the floor because he had hurt Newt…
“Yes.” Credence calls back.
More footsteps and then from in front of him. “Credence, can you look at me?”
Credence drops his hands from his face. “I didn’t do anything wrong!”
“Credence.” Newt gives him a pointed look. “You broke the man’s arm!”
“He was hurting you!”
“He wasn’t-“
Credence looks at him incredulously. “You were screaming!”
Newt blushes. “Yes, well…I’ve never liked hospitals.”
“If all hospitals are like that I don’t blame you! I thought doctors and nurses were supposed to help you!”
“They are! And he was trying to! But I…I get a bit squeamish.”
“I wouldn’t like sharp pointy things being shoved into my arm either!” Credence says, reaching a hand out to place it on Newt’s shoulder.
“Sharp pointy…” A look of understanding crosses the magizoologist’s face. “Credence, do you know what a vaccine is?”
