Newt gets back from America at the end of 1926 - right around when Tom Riddle is born. so basically whenever jacob finds himself in a pickle something highly unlikely happens, or one of these mysterious people show up and it makes jacob super confused because it always happens in the nick of time.

maybe he remembers, maybe he doesn't. i am also not opposed to jacob/newt but i'd prefer no major queenie/jacob (i headcannon her as ace who likes harmless flirting) but it's up to the filler! (Gen is great too!)

graves is chasing a major lead on a big case and has to stay at MACUSA HQ for 2-3 days. he knows he's needed at MACUSA, but he's reluctant to leave newt, seeing as his mate's nearing his heat.

newt reasons that his heat won't hit for a week and graves will probably be home by then, but graves makes him promise that if anything comes up, newt'll call for him. appeased, graves finally leaves.

newt receives word that the case will take maybe a day longer, which would have been fine if his heat didn't hit earlier than expected. newt hates having to spend his heat alone now that he has an alpha, but he doesn't call his mate either.

So, last night I got sucked into watching lots of Colin Farrell interviews and videos and stuff and I saw a couple clips from a movie he did called "In Bruges" (in which he and Brendan Gleeson are Irish hitmen who hide out in a small town in Belgium called Bruges and a lot of shit goes down, whatever, not really important) and I ended up going to bed and having a weird half-asleep fic idea?

Percival Graves, born and raised in Dublin, is running/hiding out from the Irish mob in NYC. When a couple grunts spot him, he books it into a church and ends up hiding in one of those confession booth things. So Percival's chilling in the booth, staying quiet and hoping no one notices him, when Credence climbs into the other side and, well, remember that confessional scene from "Zorro" with Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones? Yeah, it's like that, except he glosses over the whole "angered mother again" and confesses to "impure thoughts"...

So Percival--who's, y'know, kind of slutty, bit of a rake, ngl--he gets wayyyyy too into pretending to be a priest, listening to this... kid? young man?... confess about his, uh, fantasies and such. For instance, Credence saw a dark-haired man dart into the church while he was walking up to it and thought about getting on his knees for the handsome stranger...

Aaaaaand, basically you can go from there! I kind of imagine Percival to be kind of spoiled, very put-out and exasperated, and very much not seeing the same problem with impure thoughts for other men that Credence is.

Credence doesn't die and finds his way to Newt, with whom he spends the next 2-3 years, during which they start a relationship. One day, after talking about Tina, he finds Newt's journal where he's written how a relationship may keep an Obscurus stable and neutralise the threat it poses. He feels equal parts betrayed and devasteted but vows to make it right by Newt and help him settle down with Tina (which he assumes he really wants).

+ Newt doesn't actually love Tina but he's really confused about feelings in general, he kind of goes with it at first (he likes her a lot, maybe it's what love is like?)

++ Credence has some darker personality traits, he's sarcastic, possessive and can be vengeful, though he controls his Obscurus completely

+++ They end up together and Tina doesn't get hurt in the process (although she gets to feel Credence's dislike bordering on hatred up til the point when Newt gets his feelings sorted and manages to convince Credence that his love isn't faked)

Percival is slowly recovering from his ordeal at Grindalwald's hands, but a part of him feels incomplete and heartbroken without Credence, who he had met before being captured and genuinely cares for. Imagine his shock when one night, while he's sitting at home alone and brooding he gets a frantic knock on the door. It's Newt Scamander and in his arms is none other than Credence, pale and barely alive. Newt explains that the Obscurus is under control, but Credence was left with fangs and a thirst for blood. Percival knows he should call it in, but instead he helps Newt get Credence settled. It's then that Percival watches as Newt offers Credence his neck. It's the hottest thing he's ever seen, but it also makes something in him shatter seeing Credence so inmate with Newt. He's thrown for a whole other loop when Newt tells him that his blood isn't enough, that if Credence is to survive, he need more blood that Newt alone can give him. Scared but determined, Percival offers his neck to Credence. It's the most amazing thing he's ever felt, and he feels something in him that had been hurting for so long finally heal. But he feels something else too, a pull towards Newt that wasn't their before. Newt is surprised as he explains that it looks like Credence has not only claimed Newt as a mate, but Percival too. Cue the chaos.

Graves wants to further the pure wizard bloodline so he tries to get Credence pregnant. That gets him really hot, because he's really possessive and that will show everyone that Credence is HIS.

Tina misses the mentor/student relationship that she and Graves had pre-Grindewald/pre-demotion, Graves is suffering from some SEVERE trauma post-Grindewald. EMOTIONS HAPPEN.

Newt leaves Tina behind to go write his book and when he comes back assumes that Tina and Graves have become lovers.
