Seeing as we've reached 4,000 comments in Round 1, it's time to make a new one. Same (lack of) rules apply. Gentle reminder to everyone to refrain from posting extremely long prompts, though. While no word limit will be imposed, take note that it is very unlikely for someone to fulfill your prompt if your prompt alone is already several paragraphs long and containing a number of specifications.

I can't believe it's taken me so long to think of a Miss Fisher's Murder Mystery Fusion with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. (I do fully believe that Miss Phryne Fisher exists in the Harry Potter Universe, and damn well knows about magic regardless of if she has it herself or not. If she and Newt met they would probably be great friends.)

So basically, the Honourable Newton Scamander moves to America and begins solving fantastic beast related mysteries, while adopting a found family, and taking a lover or two along the way. Who everyone else (Dot, Jack, Hugh, Cec & Bert, Mr. Butler, Jane, etc) is is up to you. But make it fun :D

5 times Graves was left to catch/deal with/care for/do control damage after the escape of the niffler and 1 time the niffler led him straight to Newt's waiting arms and his bed.

I will always second Graves-vs-niffler prompts, aww!

Post movie. Graves has been found worse for wear (has he been interviewed yet?) and there's an interim report (important officials, Newt, politicians,...) on what happened (e.g. how long has Grindelwald been impersonating Graves, cases he worked, etc) and there are several murmurs blaming Graves.

Newt had expected it and asked Picquery to get a report on Grindelwald's skills/power levels as well as Graves. He then proceeds to defend Graves by directly challenging one of the loudest about how he would have fared in that situation.

Not sure if this has been prompted but I've not seen it - apologies if someone has already asked for it!

But I would love to see some shaving kink hotness, preferably Graves shaving Newt (for whatever reason your heart desires, or no reason at all. Just because it would be hot.)

Graves doesn't really care that he's getting older. But he's a bit insecure about the grey streaks in his hair. Not enough to dye it. Because that would look desperate. But definitely enough to frown at them in the mirror and wonder if more of his hair is turning grey. Newt doesn't mind his partner's older appearance. He even finds the streaks a bit sexy.

Dumbledore and Grindelwald patched things up. While Grindelwald raises an army, Dumbledore works at bringing the Ministry down from the inside, using his position as a teacher to recruit powerful students and his position on the Wizengamot to get information kept from the public.When Dumbledore goes to 'duel' Grindelwald, they join forces and conquer the world.

So Graves and Jacob somehow knew each other in Europe during WWI. They had A Thing. A thing about which Graves angsted because he knew it could never last once the war was over and they went back to America and American laws. Maybe they were separated somehow before the war was over. Maybe one of the thinks the other died, idk.

This could be set during the war or in conjunction with movie events.

With Grindelwald being Hannibal and Graves being Will, of course!

This can happen however you want it: maybe after Graves' rescue, and Grindelwald decides to exacerbate a psychologically vulnerable Graves' condition?

Or maybe the kidnapping never happened at all, and Grindelwald kills and impersonates one of MACUSA's consultants in order to get close to Graves?

Just anything where Graves is drawn to Grindelwald's persona in his vulnerability.

+ Grindelwald is cursing Graves to hallucinate.
++ Grindelwald makes works of art out of his murders (must be easy with magic on his side).
+++ No-Majs might be irritating, but there's something to be said about drugging the dear Director's food with regular No-Maj poisons/drugs, since Aurors are more likely to be trained to notice wizarding drugs/potions.

Director Graves is clumsy. Everyone knows it - the newbies, the seniors, even the people who've probably never even met him. There hasn't been a day gone by in MACUSA where Graves hasn't tripped over something (or nothing), spilled his drink, dropped a stack of papers... the list goes on. In fact, the only times he's ever NOT clumsy is when he's duelling or when he's out in the field (as having people's lives on his shoulders instead of just paperwork keeps him steady and in control).

As a result, the Auror department and MACUSA at large gets very, very suspicious when it... stops. When, suddenly, Graves is coordinated and almost /graceful/, acting like it took no effort or thought to avoid slamming into Betty from Potions Analytics by lifting the stack of reports he'd been reading and side-stepping around her before walking right off again still reading them. In fact, its so out of character, they start to wonder...

lets see some good old fashioned life swap

several ways this can go:

1) Newt is the Director of Magical Security and Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, while Graves is the magizoologist. much more playful and grizzled, respectfully. everything else is the same

2) #1, but Jacob is the (demoted) auror, Tina is the no-maj tag-a-long, Credence is the legilimens and Jacob's roommate, Queenie is the obscurus. (make of the Goldstein sister relationship what you will)

3) Tina's the magizoologist, Queenie's the no-maj tag-a-long, Newt is the (demoted) auror, Jacob is the legilimens & Newt's roommate, and everything else is the same. (make of the Goldstein sister relationship what you will, again)

4) #3, but Graves and Credence are also switched. lord knows how a mid-to-late 30 year old is an obscurus! but still!

Graves grumble as he is dragged through the auror bullpen handcuffed by an auror who introduced himself as Jacob Kawasaki who is also carrying his black, polished leather suitcase.

"NEWT!" Kawasaki called over to a tall lanky man in a blue coat with ginger hair, who is talking to a blond bubbly women pressed in all pink.

Newt? who the hell name their child newt?

"oh um. Hello Jacob!" the blue coat man gave him a crooked smile, ducking his head a little before observing Graves with his sea-green eyes. As if the man is scanning him.

"Jacob! How are you sweetie?" the blond women smiled sweetly "And who is this lovely person you brought?"

"I am doing quite well, madam president." Jacob smiled as he blushed. " This man here is Percival Graves. He accidently let loose a black rodent rat creature with a duck bill at the bank."

"A Niffler?" Newt looked up and meet Graves' eyes for a brief second before looking away.

"It was an accident." he grumbles.

Jacob put the suitcase onto a near by desk. "I'm sure it's an accident Mr.Graves. But we still need to check."

He can't help but tense up, well shit. digging his fingernails into the palm of his hands he watched as Jacob opened his suitcase. Shit, the case isn't even on no-mag worthy mode.

The case lid opened to reveal stacks of paper that seems like documents and such. He let out a breath of relief before tensing up again. If it wasn't his case, whose is it then? And where is his? Oh god it could be that women with the short bob cut he talked to at the bank! Wonderful, good job Graves you screwed up even more.

the man called Newt narrowed his eyes at the case.

"I swear I saw him put the Niffler into the case Director."

Director?

DIRECTOR?

Graves blinked, unable to belive that the the shy, tall lankey ginger man before him is the Director of Magical Security. His posture was all wrong with his eyes glued to the floor. No confidence at all. Surely it's the women dressed in pink that's the director. But Kawasaki already said she's the president.

"oh honey, I'm sure we will find your case. Also Newt here is the Director of Magical Security." The president's words quickly snapping out of his storm of disorganized thoughts. "Your disbelief was quiet visible."

"Oh dear." The director was now digging through the case. "I think a muggle policeman have Mr.Graves' Case."

"muggle?"

"The british term for No-mag." Kawasaki replied quickly.

OFCORSE! the director of magical security of America is fucking british! He should've known by the way he speak with that funny accent.

"I trust you on this one Jacob." The director closes the case. "Do you perhaps have any tracking spell on that case of yours?"

Graves nodded.

"Good luck honey!" The president flashed another smile at Kawasaki who's ears turns red.

Before he know he is yanked by the handcuff out of the auror bullpen by very determined Kawasaki.

I feel like these would lead into one another nicely.

Percival put up the front that he's okay but in truth he is hurting immensely. He starts wiring by more and withdrawing from Newt and Credence and also avoiding Tina, Queenie and Jacob. Not even the animals can cheer him up. Newt and Credence know something is very wrong with the man they love. So with the help of their friends and the animals they start reaching out to Percival to bring back his smile. They are almost too late when Percival's depression takes a turn for recklessness during dangerous situations but thankfully they manage to get through to him that he is deeply loved and cherished. Slowly but Surely Percival begins to heal, especially with the help of the magical creatures.

Newt Scamander disappeared without a trace due to a kidnapping attempt when he was barely 10 years old. His older brother never stopped searching for him.

Several years later there are rumours of a slender young man with an uncanny resemblance to Theseus Scamander, barely more than a teenager who is flying on dragonback (or griffins...) helping people and law enforcement.

+ Newt doesn't remember anything of his childhood but he gets memory flashes around Theseus and perhaps Graves (soulmates?) feeling safe with them.

Once upon a time there was this vampire that was a bit of a tool, terrorized some people, was a general asshole for a couple hundred years. Now there's Graves who's trying very hard not to let that part of his past become general knowledge, and now here's Grindelwald fucking it all up. Grindelwald became rather fond of Graves while he was holding him captive. Post-film, after he escapes from prison, every now and then he hears information that is vital for the cases Graves is working on. He begins to drop him a note now and then. One day, Grindelwald hears something that, if Graves doesn't know, the auror (oh, and the investigative team, Grindelwald supposes) could get killed. So, he decides to deliver it in person. He disguises himself and infiltrates MACUSA's company ball.

Graves has no idea the handsome man who asks him to dance is Grindelwald until his dancing partner begins to call him the same pet names Grindelwald used with him and telling him information about the trafficking ring he's been investigating. But, as Grindelwald informs him, exposing the other wizard could result in the death of most if not all of the guests, so Graves just keeps on dancing.
